Model Licensure Act Update

It has been predicted that the APA will pass the Model Licensure Act next spring. We need to gear up so we can educate our legislators about the importance of our role. If the act is introduced and passed in Iowa it will alter the provision of school psychological services.

I need volunteers to join this important committee! If you are willing to help educate others about the impact of this Act, please let me know!

Model Licensure Act for State Licensure

The newest version of APA's MLA is available on the NASP website. APA is accepting comments on the revision until June 5, 2009. If this act is passed, and then adopted by Iowa, we will see many changes in the way we practice that go beyond a change in our title. Now is the time to act.

Please consider sending APA a letter expressing your concerns about MLA. A One Click Letter and other materials are available on the NASP website. You do not need to be a NASP member to access these materials. The materials are available at http://www.nasponline.org/standards/apamla.aspx

In addition to letter writing, ISPA needs to begin developing a strategy for advocacy in Iowa. If you are interested in assisting with legislative advocacy, please contact me!
